Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Our policy is not to keep a copy of those search entries on our own servers. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond to that request.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Hosting systems may record routine server details such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We use those logs in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which pages receive attention. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, if present, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
Limited data may help operate the pages, diagnose faults, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists, and our policy is not to create individual user profiles from this information.
Links Beyond Sonoma County Residents Directory
Pages may point to county or state record portals, the Sonoma County History & Genealogy Library, archives, and third-party search tools. Once you follow one of those links, the destination's privacy policy controls what it receives. Sponsored search results are supplied by a separate company and are governed by that provider's terms.
Who May Receive Limited Data
Hosting and other service providers may process the server logs needed to run the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above where those services are enabled. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the policy is to limit sharing to the functions described here.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above call for them. There are no user accounts under this policy, so there is no site password or account profile to maintain or expose.
People Under 18
These reference pages are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor may have sent information to us, use the Contact page so the matter can be reviewed and the information deleted where appropriate.
Your California Data Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is commonly cited together as the CCPA/CPRA and appears in Civil Code ยงยง1798.100 et seq. Subject to coverage rules and exceptions, a California resident may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, limit the use of sensitive personal information, and receive nondiscriminatory treatment. A business may retain information when an exception or legal duty applies.
Information lawfully available from government records may fall within the public-record or publicly available exemption. California's Delete Act also created the California Privacy Protection Agency's DROP mechanism for data-broker deletion. Beginning January 1, 2026, a California resident may submit one verified request through DROP for registered brokers; beginning August 1, 2026, brokers must retrieve requests at least every 45 days. Use the California Privacy Protection Agency's DROP information for the current process.
Our policy is to keep no account and very little site data, so a request to this service would generally concern a contact message or technical log. Use the Contact page to ask. A DROP request or broker deletion does not erase a Sonoma County deed, assessor record, court file, vital record, or library archive. A correction, redaction, or other request for an official record must go to the custodian under that office's own legal process.
Changes to This Policy
